Abstract

Working-fluid supply. - In tidal turbines operated by the alternate flow of water through inlets 3, 2 corresponding to high and low water conditions respectively, the exhaust water is directed in an efficient manner to the proper suction conduit 6 or 7 by means of a valve member 4. The valve 4 has a pivot 5 at the bottom and a flange 8 at the top resting in a recess 9 provided with roller thrust bearings, and it is rotated either by a pinion 10 engaging teeth on the flange 8, or by an axle extending below the conduits 6, 7.
