Abstract
174,898. Chenaud, C. L. Feb. 1, 1921, [Convention date]. Mud-guards rotating with wheels.-A rigid ring 9 carrying at its outer edge an annular member 10, 10<1> made of elastic material is resiliently connected to the wheel by means of springs 8. The member 10 may be looped as shown in Fig. 1 and kept tensioned by a wire 11, or it may be formed of a single ply 10<1>, Fig. 3, with a wired outer edge 11<1>. The attaching means, in the case of spoked wheels, consist of brackets 1 clamped to the rim by bolts 5 and held together by rings 7. As applied to wheels of the disc type, the brackets 1<1>, Fig. 3, have spacing extensions 1" and are bolted to the discs. The nuts 6 are hook-shaped for the attachment of the springs. Elastic buffers 13 are provided on the brackets to engage the rings 9 to prevent noise.
