Abstract

174,665. Airey, E., (trading as Airey & Son, W.). Aug. 26, 1920. Reinforced block-work walls; double walls.- Internal walls are formed of a single thickness of precast concrete slabs and piers which are cast in situ. Rods d, Fig. 2, lying in grooves in the horizontal edges of the slabs extend into or across. the piers g and are secured to vertical rods in the piers by eyes k, Fig. 12, or by a'bend i and lashing j, Fig. 10. The vertical edges of the slabs may be bevelled in opposite directions in alternate courses. Such walls are joined to the external double walls either by forming the piers o of the latter in situ with the edges of the slabs a, Fig. 16, projecting into the external piers, or by an inner extension o', Fig. 18, formed on theexternal pier and containing a vertical bar h bonded to the bars d. Specifications 161,631 and 169,729, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances], are referred to.
