A pre-cast concrete gatepost or pier 2 for use with concrete block walls is provided with transverse recesses 4 on apertures 8 to bond with the blocks of alternate courses of the adjacent wall. A cap 6 has a raised portion on its underside which fits into a recess 5 in the top of the pier or post. When intended for use as a gate-post, the post may have hooks, hinges, keepers &c., cast in.
