174,378. Rezsny, K. Nov. 6, 1917. [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Locomotive - type boilers; shells; staying.-In a locomotive boiler having a watertube fire-box, the bottom o of the rear tubeplate b is extended downwards and is curved towards its connection with the boiler barrel. A wall c fitted at the rear of the firebox protects the bottom of the tube-plate from being burnt. The bottom of the rear sheet o<1> of the barrel may be inclined. The curved formation may extend around the whole circumference of the tubeplate. The barrel is supported upon longitudinal pipes rigidly connected to the tubular frame g at the bottom of the fire-box. The barrel is in communication with the longitudinal pipes through the supporting pipes h. The fire-box steam drums f are stayed by rods m to the front tube-plate p. In modifications, the fire-box steam-drums are formed independently of the boiler barrel and may extend over the barrel.
