Abstract

174,239. Griffin, T. Nov. 9, 1920. Tools for setting-out work. -A tool for marking off holes to be drilled in work comprises a marking-member b having an annular marking- face b<2> to which paint &c. is applied, and a central rod a having a pointed end which is normally held projected beyond the face b<2> by a spring d. The spring bears against a nut h threaded on the rod a and engaging a slot g in a ferrule f, and by removing the cap a<3> the rod may be turned to adjust the amount by which it proejcts, or the rod may be lifted to withdraw the nut from the slot g and then given a partial turn so that the nut is supported on the top of the ferrule f with the point of the rod a withdrawn into the member b. A casing c surrounds the rod a. The member b is screwed on to the ferrule. so that it may readily be replaced by other members of different sizes, tommy holes b' being provided to facilitate removal. Preferably the lower end of the ferrule f is in the same plane as the marking face b<2> so that concentric circles are marked.
