Abstract

174,060. Weinrich, E. Jan. 11, 1921, [Convention date]. Detachable propelling installations.-In outboard motor installations for boats, oil or oil and water is circulated through the cylinder jackets for cooling the cylinders, through the depending driving-shaft casing, and through the hollow boss for lubricating the driving-gear. The driving- wheel g is utilized as a pump to force cooling liquid up the casing a through pipes k to the jackets of the cylinder b and thence by pipes c to a tank d, the flow back to the pump being through the pipe e. The heat taken up from the cylinders is dissipated at the part of the apparatus immersed in the water.
