Abstract

172,959. Della Riccia, A. Dec. 13, 1920, [Convention date]. Regulating transformers.-Two symmetricallyarranged secondary circuits R1, R2 are supplied from an auto-transformer winding T, Fig. 2, by connecting one terminal of each circuit to one end of the transformer winding, the other terminals of the circuits being connected to contacts 2, 3 which are movable by equal amounts and in opposite directions along the winding. For threephase circuits, three auto-transformer windings, preferably connected in delta, are used. An arrangement for controlling two three-phase motors, Fig. 4, comprises a double set of contactpieces 1 - - 9 connected in pairs to points of the transformer windings, and six sectors a - - f, each of which is connected to one end of one of the six windings A1 - - C1, D2 - - F2 of the motors. The other ends of the motor windings are connected to the main terminals 1, 4, 7 of the transformer windings. Six movable contact members A - - F are provided for connecting the sectors to the various contact-pieces in succession. The contact-pieces and sectors may be arranged on a disc, as shown, or on a cylinder or they may be placed in superposed rows.
