Fluid - actuated valves.-In hydrocarbon vapour generating apparatus the supply of fuel to a subsidiary vaporizing coil 15 heated by a wich burner 19 and supplying a preliminary heating torch for the main generator, is controlled by the expansion of fluid such as mercury in a tube 24 acting through a diaphragm 28 on a spring-pressed piston 33 which is adjustably connected to a valve 38.
