Abstract

164,826. Parkinson & W. & B. Cowan, Ltd., and Parkinson, B. R. March 11, 1920. Carburetting. - Gas-heated apparatus for vaporizing petroleum &c. in admixture with coalgas, prior to the passage of the mixture into a coal-gas main, comprises a vaporizing coil 3, to which the mixture is supplied at the upper end, arranged between an outer casing 1 and an inner core 2 and heated by a gas burner 7. The body of the apparatus is preferably constructed of three cylinders 8, 9, 10 and castings 11, 12, 13, 14, the whole being held together as shown by bolts 15, 16. The petroleum is supplied through a sight-feed regulator 6 to the upper end of the coil 3, where it meets the coal-gas, which is under a pressure higher than that in the coal-gas main, supplied by a pipe 4 and then the mixture travels downwardly through the coil, the mixture issuing through the outlet pipe 5 of the apparatus to the gas main.
