Abstract

170,744. Fleury, A., and Chalier, M. Sept. 20, 1920. Stropping-apparatus.-Leather covered rollers 7, 8, Fig. 1, are held in sides 1, 2 of a frame by washers 13, 14 abutting against a stirrup 15, Figs. 1 and 3, the forked ends of which are clamped by nuts 17, 18, threaded on a rod 6. A thin flexible member 19 having tongues 22, 23 is temporarily bent so that the holes in a double-edged blade 16 can be engaged by these tongues, and it is then secured above the stirrup 15 by nuts 20, 21 threaded on the rod 6. The edges of the blade 16 contact with the rollers. A rigid flat leather 27 is held so as to contact with one side of one edge of the blade and is moved so as to stop this side and at the same time rotate the corresponding roller, which simultaneously strops the other side of the same edge. In a modification, for use with singleedged blades, only one roller is employed.
