Pencil and like holders.-In a pencil-holder of the type in which the lead advancing and retracting mechanism is actuated by a rotatable part serving as a receptacle for spare leads, the receptacle is formed by a corrugated sleeve 24 attached by solder, rivets, or the like to the barrel 10 and the helically-slotted tube 19 of the lead-feeding device. A longitudinally-slotted tube 12 is fixed to the tip 11 which is rotatably mounted on the barrel 10. The lead-carrier 14 and a plunger 17 therein are provided with lugs 16, 18 respectively extending through the slot in the tube 12 into successive turns of the helical slot in the tube 19. At the forward end, the slot in the tube 19 is cut off square, so that the plunger may be advanced with respect to the carried 14 to eject the lead therefrom. A short threaded tube 28 is attached to the rear end of the tube 12 to accommodate a cap 29 which serves to close the receptacles. To prevent relative longitudinal movement of the parts, the forward end of the tube 19 bears against the tip 11, and its rear end is held by a collar 22 encircling the end of the tube 12 and held in place by a pin 23.
