Abstract

169,388. M³ller, H. Oct. 11, 1920. Mechanical toys.-A human or other figure is constructed to turn somersaults or, when mounted on a stand, to revolve round the axis of its arms. The toy is driven by a fly-wheel which is set in motion by a multiplying train of gearing. The body n of the toy is fitted with a casing a enclosing the driving-gear and through which the axis b of the long arms c passes. The axis b is flattened at m, Fig. 3, and engages springs in a casing k connected to a pinion e geared through wheels f, h, i with a fly-wheel S loose on the axis b. The fly-wheel is set in motion by turning the arms c relatively to the body, the springs l slipping if the turning is effected too strongly. If the toy is placed on a table, the fly-wheel when moving causes the figure to turn somersaults. The arms may be connected by sleeves r, Fig. 4, to the upturned ends q of a frame o which serves as a stand. The stand is provided with a hook t bv which it may be hung on a nail or suspended from a cord. The upper part d of the arms c are curved to form shoulders as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
