Abstract

130,304. Davies, P. H. April 30, 1919. Mechanical toys.-Relates to a clookwork toy figure adapted to imitate walking or running. The frame carrying the clockwork driving mechanism is enclosed in the body of the figure. The legs 4 are loosely pivoted at their upper ends on a rotating shaft 3 and guide-members 9 secured to the frame are provided to limit the swing of the legs. Disks 10 secured to the outer ends of the shaft 3 are provided with crank-pins 15 on which the upper ends of wires or rods 12 are pivoted, the wires passing through eyepieces 14 attached to the legs, and through slots in the feet 7. Thus, as the plate 10 is rotated by the driving mechanism, the figure is tilted by the pressure of the end of the wire. 12 against the table and raises the foot. The wire then presses against the eyelet 14 and swings the leg and foot forwards. Finally, the wire is lifted and its lower end is then moved forwards and again raises the foot.
