[Class 132 (iii)] A toy figure for turning somersaults either on an inclined or level surface comprises a torso 11, Fig. 1, to which are hinged arms 13, and legs 15 having a resilient connection by which an angular movement of the legs relatively to the torso produces an equal and opposite angular movement of the arms. The connection between the arms and legs may be formed by leaf springs 29 each connected to an arm and leg. The pairs of arms and legs are each connected by a plate 19, 25 provided with friction surfaces 21, 27. The figure may be drawn along a level surface by a wire 35 or allowed to roll down an inclined surface. An automatic figure may be formed with a hollow torso 51, Fig. 6, containing a pendulous weight 77 attached to an axle 83, around which is wound a helical spring. The toy is operated by turning it round and thus winding the spring and then placing it upon a level surface. Instead of leaf springs 29, the limbs may be connected by flexible straps and biassed by a spiral spring within the toy, a helical spring connecting the limbs outside the toy, or by a helical spring connecting the torso to one pair of limbs.
