Generating by electricity. - An electrically-heated boiler of the type described in the parent Specification, in which electrodes are placed in the ascending tube of a circulating system arranged beneath the boiler, has the electrodes d surrounded bv an insulating-tube e of porcelain, for example, mounted in stuffing- boxes to permit of expansion, the space between the insulating-tube and the casing a being filled with liquid at boiler pressure. The space between the casing and the tube may be in communication with the tubes of the circulation eystem, or may be separated therefrom and filled with a non-conducting liquid such as oil, the expansion of which is taken up by a chamber h.
