Tentering.-An exsion b of the pawl a of a stenter-clip carries a two-armed pendant lever h, the ends of which are downwardly directed and provided with antifriction rollers h<3>, h<4>. One arm h<1> is shorter than the other arm h<2>, and the angle between them is such that when the arm h<2> bears on the fabric then the arm h<4> is approximately vertical and so takes the greater part of the weight of the arm b. A spring plunger g retained in a thimble e bears on the upper part of the arm b. The thimble e is either riveted to or screwed into a bridge-piece c pivoted on thesame pivot pin a<1> as the pawl a. The bridgepiece c has lugs, which engage nuder arms d of the clip member. Alternatively, the spring may be coiled around the pivot pin a<1>.
