Abstract
150,577. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Novelty Products Co.). Dec. 2, 1919. Clothes-pegs; clips, pivotedjaw.-A double-ended clothespeg comprises two rigid jaw members 2, 3, preferably of wood, clamped together by a resilient wire spring 4, and formed with diverging fulcra 18, 19, so that inward pressure on either pair of diverging portions causes the members to rock on the adjacent fulcrum and opens the jaws at the other end of the peg. The wire spring 4 extends through transverse openings 5 in the adjacent faces of the jaw members, the two ends of the wire being curled at 7 so as to extend downwards at 13, and finally lapped round the jaw members at 8, 9. In use, the article of clothing may be folded over the line and the peg employed to clamp it thereto in the ordinary manner, or one end of the peg may be attached to the article and the other end of the peg suspended from the line, for which latter purpose are provided apertures 21, 22 in the jaws, the aperture 21 being of round section to engage wire clothes lines, and the aperture 22 being shaped to accommodate a woven clothes line or rope. In the form of peg shown, the clamping-ends 8, 9 of the wire spring are disposed nearer the lower end of the peg so that the resilient tension on an article held between the lower jaws is greater than the tension of the jaws at the other end on the clothes line.
