Abstract

167,221. Britain, W. April 22, 1920. Propelling by air jets. - In vessels with bottom channels and sloping stern to which compressed air is supplied for propulsion, the air is stored in a container and the outlet leading to a narrow chamber and transverse holes is valve controlled. The hull a, Fig. 1, has a central keel b and side keels c forming channels c<1> leading to the sloping stern. The draught of the boat is a maximum towards the stern. A container d for storing compressed air is connected by pipes f, g with a keel chamber j having transverse, discharge apertures k, Fig. 3. The air supply is controlled by a needle valve in the pipe system.
