Abstract

July 8, 1920 Swivelling joints; cupleather joints.-A swivelling joint described in connection with a grease gun comprises a sleeve 13 containing a rotatable cup to which the tube 12 is attached and held against endlong movement in the sleeve as by a shoulder 14 and the swaged-over end of the sleeve. A further shoulder 15 and the bottom of the cup act as limiting- stops for a, pair of spring- urged gaskets 20, 21, which may be cup-leathers with opposed flanges as shown. In a modification the cup is retained at one end by a split ring 38, Fig. 5, which can slip over the tube 12 but spring out into a recess 39 in the sleeve. Connection is made to a coupling 27 by a simple bayonet-joint, and joining depresses a ball 31 against the action of a spring 32. The cup and gaskets are centrally perforated.
