Abstract

165,695. Tucker, A. N. Sept. 17, 1920. Adapting for miniature-ammunition.-Consists in adapting shot guns for miniature cartridges by means of a lining-tube having a fixed flange at the front fitting the bore and a conical nut fitting the conical part of the chamber. The miniature cartridge is carried in an adapter comprising a plug fitted in a casing the same size as an ordinary cartridge case. In the construction shown, the lining-tube 1 has a flange 2 at the front and a conical nut 6 screwing on a thickened part of the tube at the rear and fitting the conical part of the cartridge chamber. The miniature cartridge is carried by a plug 13 fitted in a casing 12. The walls of the cartridge are preferably thick enough to withstand the explosion without distortion. A suitable charge for the cartridge is four grains of fine black powder, a quarter-inch felt-wad, a glazed paper wad, about 300 pellets, and a close-fitting paper wad.
