Abstract

165,626. Solomon, M., Garrard, C. C., and Wilson, W. May 17, 1920. Controllers, interlocking.-In a motor controller, the main or reversing switch C, Fig. 1, is interlocked with electromagnetic accelerating contactors F, J, by means of a cam C2, Fig. 1<a>, on the switch spindle C1 interacting with a spring tailpiece attached to the electromagnet armature B1, so that the armature is mechanically held on when the switch is in the neutral or open position, and is mechanically freed when the switch is closed either on the forward or reverse side. After being mechanically freed, the armature will fall when the current in the electromagnet D is sufficiently reduced. The effect is to allow the first contactor F to close, and also to close a subsidiary contactor I which puts into action the second contactor J. In a modified construction the cam on the switch spindle acts on a cranked lever which removes a support from the electromagnet armature.
