187,784. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Aug. 30, 1921. Automatic starters.-A current limit relay 20, 21, the closure of which determines the cutting out of starting resistance 11, has a mechanical constraint such as a lever 19 removed by the action of an electromagnet 18 after an electromagnetic line switch 13 has been closed and a master controller moved to its accelerating position. The relay closes under gravity when the motor current flowing through a coil 17 has fallen to a safe value. A low resistance coil 20 shunting the coil 18 is switched in to make a firm contact, and the relay reopens after the closure of the controlled resistance contactor 14.
