Abstract

165,353. Hart, J. C. Aug. 10, 1920. Fixing by detachable socket pieces with retaining devices for brushes.-A flat-backed broom or brush is removably secured in a holder comprising a flat plate having undercut lugs or flanges for engaging and holding the edges of the brush stock and a socket for the handle, a single screw being used for fixing in position. The holder may be a casting or stamping comprising a flat plate 1 with undercut lugs or flanges 4, and a socket 2 in which the handle 3 is secured. A single screw passed through the holes 11, 12 in the plate 1 and brush stock 8 holds the brush in position, and by providing two such holes in the plate 1 or in the stock 8 the brush may be reversed in the holder. The lugs 4 may be on the ends of the plate instead of on the sides, and a stop lug provided on one side.
