Abstract

246,366. Nielsen, L. H. May 26, 1925. Hinged handles. - In a brush, broom, swab, mop, &c. of the kind having the head so connected to the handle as to be angularly ad. justable when the handle is turned, the handle has a screwthreaded bolt fixed to one end which engages a cylindrical nut located in a cylindrical recess in the head and passes through a slotted bent or curved metal recess secured to the head and bearing on the end of the handle. The threaded bolt 2 rigidly secured in the end of the handle 1 screws through a cylindrical nut 5 placed in a recess 4 in the brush head 3, which has a slot 6 with diverging end walls leading to the recess 4. The bolt 2 passes through guiding slots in a flat plate 10 and arcuate plate 11 secured to the brush. Another plate 12 on the bolt 2 has a concave face bearing against the plate 11. Fig. 10 shows a modification of the plate 11 adapted to secure the handle rigidly in three positions.
