Abstract

164,856. McLean, K. H. March 17, 1920. Chocks.-An arrangement of chocking gear which may be fitted to a boat to adapt it for nesting, comprises slidable keel supports, pivoted chocks, and pivoted keel clamps. The bell clamps are preferably mounted on the keel supports and means may be provided for releasing the gear and gripe ropes simultaneously. A longitudinal shaft 16 journaled in transversals 8 of a collapsable boat 5, is fitted with end and central keel supports 18 of inverted U-shape loosely mounted on the shaft astride the transversals. Keel clamps 21, pivotally mounted at 20 to the keel supports, are provided with lugs 22 engaged by forked members 9 fitted to the shaft, and provided with pins 12 for securing the gripe ropes 27 in brackets 13. The actuating-lever 14, attached to one of the forked members 9, rotates the shaft so that the flats 7 on the shaft are moved into line with the slots 19 in the keel supports, allowing them to drop, and the forked members turn the keel clamps into an horizontal plane; at the same time the bilge chocks 23 pivotting about the pins 24 in the brackets 17 urge the nested boat outboard. A plurality of hand-levers 14 may be employed, one of which may be fitted with a locking-pin 16.
