Abstract
164,703. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. June 7, 1920, [Convention date]. Hopper wagons.-The side doors are locked in the open or closed position by means of a toggle joint which in that position has just passed its position of dead-centre. The doors B, B, are connected by rods D, D, to the ends of opposing crank arms C, C<1>, the arm C<1> being connected at its junction with the arm D to the toggle joint formed by the links E, F. The latter are pivoted at c<3> : an extension of the link E is formed with a stop e<2> against which the link F bears when it has just passed its dead-centre at the open or closed position of the doors. To discharge the load, a rod attached to the pivot c<4> is revolved slightly counter-clockwise; this breaks the toggle, Fig. 4, and the doors swing out under the action of the load, the arm D carrying the toggle into the position shown in Fig. 5, where it locks the doors in the open position. To close the doors, the pivot c<1> is turned slightly counterclockwise so as to break the toggle, the doors then close due to their weight. The pivot c' is then turned slightly clockwise until the link F bears against the stop e<2>, Fig. 3, this action locking the doors in the closed position.
