Abstract
163,831. Speight, A. March 3, 1920. Vehicle-window opening and closing apparatus. -In a vehicle or like window which is provided with a balancing-device such as the spring-controlled lazy-tongs shown in Fig. 2, the operating- means, comprising the handle and articulated links G, G<1>, connected to the lazy-tongs, throws the window over the fence rail and lowers it on to same in closing. A bracket H on the bottom rail of the window is provided with a cam-groove h<1>, Fig. 4, in which during the final closing movement a pin g on the link G<1> engages to push the window outwardly and drop it on the fence rail d<1>. The handle operates the spindle B by means of lugs a<2> engaging projections k on a connecting- piece K fast on the spindle. The window is held in any position by means of a clutch in the boss c<1> engaging a similar clutch on the handle under spring pressure. These clutches are disengaged on initial movement of the handle by a pin a<3> riding up inclines on the connecting-piece.
