Abstract

Closure members, simple lift.-Auxiliary air is admitted transversely into the induction pipe 17 of an internal-combustion engine through a conical nozzle 24 fitted with a conical valve 40, which in all operative positions projects beyond the end of the nozzle, so that the air jet is in the form of a hollow cone. The valve is normally closed by a spring 37 and is opened by means of a pedal connected by a rod 53 and an arm 45 to a spindle 41 having an arm 43 in engagement with a recess 44 in the valve. The rod 53 is secured to a wristpin 49 on a slidable collar 48 secured to the arm 45 by a set-screw, and the arm 45 is adjustably secured to the spindle 41 by a split clamp 46. Rotation of the valve body 35 may be prevented by a set-screw 51 engaging a groove in the valve body.
