Abstract
162,230. Savary, A. Sept. 4, 1920. Variable-speed gearing comprises masses M, M<1>, Figs. 1 and 2, sliding upon diametral rods B, B' secured to a driving-member P. The masses M, M' bear upon eccentric rings G, G' secured to a driven shaft R, and by centrifugal force and inertia cause the shaft R to be driven at a speed which varies automatically with the load. In a modification shown in Figs. 5 and 7 masses 8 slides in radial slots in arms 7 secured to the driving-shaft 5. The driven element 6 carries discs 1 with eccentric recesses engaged by the masses 8.
