Protective arrangements.-The value of the neutral point earth resistance of a high tension system is automatically reduced when a ground fault occurs. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the earth resistance is divided into two parts i, j, the latter of which is short-circuited by a switch k when a ground fault occurs. In a modification, a second resistance is connected in parallel with the first; and in a further modification, a winding in inductive relation to the resistance is close-circuited. The resistance may be the primary winding of a transformer.
