Abstract

174,769. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., and Pearce, H. Nov. 8, 1920. Protective arrangements. - In a Merz-Price system of protection for apparatus and distribution lines, faults between phases are dealt with by connecting a point in the secondary circuit of one of the phase transformers to a corresponding point in the other through phase relays adapted to open the main switch. In the arrangement shown, the mid points of the middle transformer secondary winding are connected together through the relays 12, and only a single additional pilot wire 11 is necessary for dealing with faults between any two phases. Faults to earth are dealt with in the ordinary way by the relays 6 in the pilot wire connections 5 between the balanced transformers.
