Abstract

Polyphase systems; protective arrangements.- Electric transmission systems, involving large capacitances in the cables, are provided at intervals with reactances connected in parallel and designed to produce resonance at full load and. adapted to be varied in value upon a diminution of the load to avoid resonance under the condition of working. The values of the reactances may be varied by short-circuiting a small reactance in series with the main reactance, or bv cutting-in and cutting-out subsidiary reactances connected in parallel with the main reactances. The values of reactances may be reduced by supplying capacity currents from the central core of the cable to the outer cores of the cables through transformers which also supply a local load circuit.
