Abstract

157,542. Levy, L. R. Oct. 15, 1919. Roller mills.-Feed-hoppers 3 for roller mills are provided with a restricted outlet arranged as shown in Figs. 2 or 3. The hopper shown in Fig. 2 is provided with a block 8 shaped to form with the rollers 1, 2 two narrow outlet passages 9. The hopper shown in Fig. 3 is provided with a curved side 11 and a straight side 10; one of the sides may be provided with a slide for adjusttng the outlet 12. As applied to roller mills for grinding plastic mixtures, the above-described outlets prevent the rollers from extracting the greasy components more quickly than the dry components and thereby drying the mixture.
