Abstract
157,225. Hanemann, H. Dec. 22, 1919, [Convention date]. Cased or compound forms; plates and sheets; rollers and drums; shafts; punches and dies.- A layer of self-hardening steel is applied preferably hot to the surface of the metal to be covered. Metal objects such as axles, shafts, rolls, rollers, and stamps may be plated by drawing on a sheath of the steel at 900-1100‹ C. Quenching in water or oil is unnecessary. Steels containing manganese, chromium, tungsten, and nickel are mentioned as examples. Other hardening metals like molybdenum or vanadium may be used in known proportions.
