CONSTITUTION:A hot-rolled sheet of middle-low carbon steels having <=0.20% C or a low alloy steel contained with 0.019-0.100% P is pickled by using hydrochloric acid or the like. When the P content in the steel is properly controlled at this time, the formation amount of the smut on the pickled steel surfaces increases. At the pressing of the steel sheet having undergone this treatment, solid type lubrication effect of the residual smut is sufficient and the press-formed articles free from occurrence of die galling and the like is obtained.
