Stamping.-In pressing or drawing flat plates, such as hard steel armour plates, one or more cover plates B' of softer metal, such as iron, are used, with or without intermediate layers of paper, or graphite. The process is carried out hot or cold, and if two cover plates are used, their edges may be welded together or to the steel plates between them.
