(or, 113-120) The present invention relates to a process for constructing thin-walled hollow bodies by stamping.
Containers are known which consist of a stiff and of a flexible cap, the latter of which is pressed inwards into the former for emptying the contents. The manufacture of such containers according to the known processes is difficult and costly. If the cap is manufacture from a thin sheet of aluminum or the like by stamping, folds or cracks are formed in the sheet, the distribution of the thickness is irregular, the container is porous and leaky, the cap has to be provided with a coating, whereby the cost of manufacture is increased.
On the other hand, it is necessary in the known processes, to lubricate both faces of the sheet 1 punch 8, a correct before stamping, so that after stamping it is necessary to clean the inner wall of the cap; this is particularly diilicult'and costly forthe flexible inner wall.
The process according to the invention, which eliminates these drawbacks, consists in stamp ing the thin cap of the'container simultaneously with the stiffer cap; a nozzle or nozzle support may be provided beforehand in the rigid sheet.
Owing to this simultaneous stamping, on the i one hand the resistance to stamping is increased and on the other hand the friction between the stamping tool and the thin sheet to be stamped is eliminated on one side, whereby excessive stresses on the thin sheet are prevented and a flawless fluid-tight container wall'is produced.

The protecting plate 6 which serves as a lining can be made of any appropriate material and have any appropriate thickness, it may for example be made of the same metal as the sheet to be shaped, any device being used which facilitates the subsequent removal of the protecting plate 6.
If elements are shaped which are to form the same assembly, according to the present process the two sheets are shaped simultaneously. If for example a container is to be manufactured which, as shown in Fig. 1, consists of a stiff half-container provided with a nozzle support 2 and of which the periphery is fixed by fluidtight crimping to the periphery of a flexible cap, the simultaneous stamping of the'elem'ents I and 4 is eifected in the manner shown in Fig.4.

Containers of any desired shape can be manufactured according to the process described. A process for manufacturing containers consisting in placing a relatively flexible flat metal sheet in face to face contact with the flat portions of a relatively rigid flat metal sheet having a nozzle performed thereon, simultaneously dieshaping the contacting flat portions of the two sheets in one shaping operation to produce from 7 each sheet a dome-shaped structure, the two dome-shaped structures being in face to face contact in their simultaneously shaped portions, and joining the edges of the two contacting domeshaped structures, at least a part of the central portions of the flexible structure being adapted 15 to be separated from the relatively rigid structure to form a container.
