Stoppers seated by screw working in bridge-piece.-- A closure device for bottles or other receptacles comprises a hood-like locking- head f adapted to enclose the neck of the receptacle and provided with pivoted locking-claws d adapted to engage under a collar b on the receptacle, a closure .cap o provided with packing p and slidable within the head f, and a pressing-screw h screwed into the head f at g and adapted to press the cap o with its packing against the mouth r of the receptacle. A conical lower part of the head i of the screw is adapted to press outwards the upper arms m of the claws d when the screw is moving downwards, the arms m being at this time engaged in slots n in the head f, so that the claws d engage under the collar b, and the arms m eventually pass on to a cylindrical part of the head i so that inward movement of the claws is stopped, while the pressure exerted by the screw forces the cap tightly on to the mouth r and moves the head f upwards to cause the claws d tightly to engage the lower surface of the collar b.
