Machine guns. - Relates to machine guns of the type in which a pivoted spring-controlled hammer 17 is cocked and held by the breech-bolt 3 as it slides in the receiver 1, the hammer being released to strike a spring-retracted firing-pin 7 when the breech-block reaches the firing position. According to the invention, the hammer, pivoted at 12, is connected bv a link 14 to a spring-actuated plunger 15 and is retained in cocked position solely by the breechblock, the trigger 22 acting through links 26, 27 on a sear 28 which engages a bent 28a in the breech-block.
