Abstract
155,713. Sokal, S., (Maschinenwerk zu Frankfurt a/Main, vorm. Kolb, Rieber, & Co.). Dec. 31, 1919. Area meters.-In leather-measuring machines of the Sawyer type in which the registering arcs are operated by pinions lifted into engagement with them when goods pass under the feed wheels, means are provided for increasing the depth of such engagement and for disengaging the arcs and pinions. The usual lever 5 supporting the spindle 13 of the registering arc 4 is perforated as shown at c, d, e, f, so that the link 8 connecting it to the lever 3 carrying the spindle of the feed-wheel 1 may be attached at different points thus varying the depth of engagement between the pinions 2 of the feed-wheel and the arc. A turn-buckle inserted in the link 8 gives further adjustability. Two holding pawls are fitted differing half a tooth of the arc in engagement and are both released simultaneously by a linkage 23, 22, from the arm 20 connected to the treadle chain 27. A link 29 simultaneously rocks a shaft 32 having an adjustable stop for rocking the lever 5 to disengage the arc 4 and its actuating-pinion. A pair of holding pawls 14, 15, Fig. 2, on the same spindle 16 may be employed.
