Abstract
155,256. Kaisser, K. Dec. 15, 1919, [Convention date]. Mercury switches.-A multiple contact mercury switch, suitable for motor cars &c., consists of a casing a formed with a mercury chamber e and provided with a contact channel d, which extends centrally from the end of the casing where the contacts c are located to a point in alinement with the pivoting shackle b. In switching on, the mercury flows from the chamber e to the channel d through the duct g, which is provided with a throttling screw k, so that the mercury engages the successive contacts at uniform intervals, which can be adjusted by the screw k. In switching off, the mercury returns rapidly through the channel d to the chamber e. Current is supplied to the contacts c from the main contact m, through the carbon block l, the casing a, and the mercury.
