Abstract

Double walls; double walls with concrete fillings.- A cavity wall is formed of blocks a, Fig. 4, provided with projections b of dovetail shape and of the full depth of the block so that the blocks on opposite faces interlock as shown in Fig. 3. The cavities may be filled in where required and the filling may be reinforced. At the angles, a recess may be formed on the inner face of one block to receivethe projection b of a block on the adjacent face. Pillars or piers are formed in a similar manner but with the projections b set in from the ends; or they may be formed of blocks, as shown in Fig. 5, in which the projections b are on the inner edge of the top face only and engage in corresponding recesses e on the inner edge of the lower face. Forstronger walls, the opposite faces are keyed to Z- shaped blocks k, Figs. 9 and 10.
