Blocks and slabs, special shapes of.-Pier blocks a, Figs. 4 and 7, and panel blocks b having V- shaped projections and recesses respectively on their top and bottom longitudinal edges, in addition to V-shaped vertical edges f adapted to engage corresponding recesses c in the pier blocks, are used in constructing cavity walls. Condensation holes g are formed in the pier blocks. A block used in constructing a string course consists of two integral parts i, j, Fig. 9, the upper part i being star-shaped to present angular abutments k and straight abutments l, and the under part j corresponding with the pier block whereon it is disposed. The slabs used are V-shaped on their upper surfaces, and their extremities are shaped to coact with the abutments k, l, and V-shaped recesses e. The upper part i may be formed after assembly of the other parts.
