Abstract

154,836. Robinson, A. S. F. March 25, 1920. Locking nuts.-To render a nut self-locking, a tapered wall b, Fig. 1, is uniformly compressed by a tool i to contract the threaded bore, either before or after the application of the nut. The wall b may be slotted by a circular saw which cuts two opposite slots c simultaneously. Fig. 2 shows a nut having a tapered extension at one end compressed by a tool k, and at the other end a slotted extension b which is compressed when it enters a tapered opening in a washer.
