Abstract

258,472. Room, J. Jan. 26, 1926. Nuts.-To prevent overstraining when tightening. A cylindrical nut B is encircled by a split ring A which engages the nut by friction when turned in one direction but when turned in the opposite direction to unscrew the nut the end a<1> of the ring engages the shoulder B<1> of the nut. The ring is retained by projections B <2> and is knurled or provided with flats. The hole B<3> may be eccentric. An annular projection B<4> is provided at one end so that the con tacting surfaces may be small.
