Abstract

863,147. Locking nuts. COCK, C. T. Oct. 14, 1958, No. 32789/58. Class 89(1). A self-locking-nut comprises a screwed-body 2, Fig. 1, having ratchetteeth 6 on one end-face co-operating with similar teeth 61 on a disc 19 in a cap 10 having a bayonetlike-connection with lugs 7 on the body. The disc is pressed against the body by a spring 20. Identicalmembers 5, 5<SP>1</SP>, each comprising an annulus of teeth 6, 61, and lugs 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, are secured in recesses in the body and disc, which latter has a projection 21, Fig. 4, for slidingly engaging a longitudinal-slot 9 in a bolt 1. Cup 16 may be filled with grease to exclude moisture from the cap. Before the nut can be unscrewed from a bolt, the cap is first removed.
