Abstract

158,878. Badois, L., and Kahn, D. Feb. 3, 1920, [Convention date]. Locking nuts and set screws.-The opposed faces of a nut 5 and check-nut 6 are provided with conical extensions 7, 8 adapted to be engaged by a ring 9 of soft steel &c. As the nut 6 is screwed down towards the nut 5, the ring 9 is expanded and, in the locking position, serves as a binder to prevent relative movement of the nuts. The extensions 7, 8 may be cylindrical with a chamfered portion to permit engagement with the ring. As applied to locking a set-screw, the part with which the screw engages is furnished with an extension to register with a corresponding extension on a check-nut.
