Abstract

138,281. Taylor, C. R., and Bourne, L. V. Aug. 30, 1919. Studs. - In order to prevent the removal of a screw, the head is formed with a ratchetshaped projection so that the driver or other tool can only turn the screw in one direction. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, shoulders or abutments 4 parallel to the same diametral line are provided on opposite sides of the head 2 and between their shoulders the metal is cut away or bevelled. Where a peg spanner is employed, one or both of the peg holes are formed as tapered grooves to disengage the spanner when rotated in one direction. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12488/01, 1563/12, [Class 89 (ii), Hooks &c.], and 131,857.
