Abstract

154,739. Brooks, B., and Jenkins, A. H. Sept. 19, 1919. Hasp locks and fastenings.-A locking-device applicable to such purposes as securing trunks upon the luggage-grids of motor-cars, fastening lids on boxes, &c. comprises a link member 1 and a lever member 9 carrying a lock to secure it in place after it has been operated to draw together the two parts that are to be fastened. The link 1 may carry an adjustable hook 3 to engage a staple 5 on a luggage grid. A stud 12 secured to the trunk or other article is inserted in a holeformed in the back plate of the lock casing, which acts as a tightening-lever when swung about its pivot 7, whereby the neck of the stud is forced along a slot 15 in the link 1, and finally secured in place by a catch 17. A bolt 10 blocks the catch, which may be released by a finger-piece 19, when the bolt is withdrawn. A key-lock of an ordinary type may be fitted instead of the spring lock shown.
